Britney Spears has sparked concern among her fans after accusing her friends of being ‘jealous’ in an angry online rant. The Hit Me Baby One More Time singer, 43, hit out at her ‘fake friends’ for criticising and commenting on the way she looks. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Britney sent a clear and stern message to those who feel the need to share their opinion on her appearance.
The iconic singer, who was granted freedom from her 13-year-long conservatorship in 2021, lashed out at those close to her in a lengthy caption which has since been deleted from her Instagram account. Britney slammed those who have made comments about her messy hair as she insisted that she thinks she is more beautiful than ever.
The mum-of-two also hit out at the ‘fake’ friends in her life who have recently changed their tune with her as she insisted that they were simply jealous of her and her looks. Speaking to the camera in the Instagram video, Britney kicked off her rant by insisting: “I feel so sorry for you guys. I thought my hair was beautiful and I do have a cold and it has affected my voice.”
Britney then informed her fans that she wouldn’t be able to travel past the southern border for a few months due to her being ‘held back’. The singer appeared the suddenly change up the subject as she said: “And I have been held back from going to Mexico for four months and since flying and traveling is the main thing for my health and well-being, I do have a small virus.
“They will do anything to keep me from living my life and in my highest manner. I feel sorry for people like that. Hopefully we can all be kind to one another,” she added. Last month, Britney sparked much concern among her fans when she took to Instagram to claim that she had ‘burned down her house’.
In recent years, Britney has caused widespread concern on social media, including sharing a bizarre clip of herself dancing with knives – as well as a full-frontal nude video. And back in March, she shocked fans again after telling them she had ‘burned down her bathroom’ in a scary statement, which was accompanied by a video in which she writhes around her living room, sporting a cheetah-print leotard.
Captioning the clip which saw her dance next to an open fireplace while wearing tasselled black calf-length boots and performing some curious choreography, she wrote: “I dropped four sizes putting the cheetah on — Haven’t danced in a while !!! I burned my bathroom down today, ran like a maniac back to the house because there was a pie in the oven and I’m honestly tired of making sense of things these days.”
Since shooting to fame with Baby, Hit Me One More Time in 1999, Britney became one of the world‘s most famous faces, amassing legions of loyal fans, who travelled the world to see her.
However, after being thrust into the limelight aged just 16, she was then caught up in the conservatorship chaos in which her father, Jamie Spears, took control of many aspects of her life from 2008.
The conservatorship was dissolved in 2021 after a prolific #FreeBritney campaign. However, the singer then started posting bizarre videos in Instagram, including one in which she dances in her palatial pad in Los Angeles – with two huge kitchen knives.
Fans expressed their concern for the Disney star, with many saying Britney was “clearly suffering” and needed to get help. However, the singer told them not to worry as she was just ‘copying Shakira’.
She captioned the post in which she brandishes the blades with lightening speed dancing to Enigma’s Sadness: “Lighten up about the knives, I’m copying Shakira. I started playing in the kitchen with knives today.” Britney added: “Don’t worry they are NOT real knives.”
