Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime has risen to the 13th spot in the global rankings following his impressive performance in the men’s singles semifinals at the U.S. Open. With a career-best ranking of 6th in 2022, Auger-Aliassime has now become the top-ranked Canadian male player. The 25-year-old athlete from Montreal achieved his first Grand Slam semifinal since the 2021 U.S. Open by defeating notable players like Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur, before succumbing to former world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a four-set match last Friday.

Carlos Alcaraz, the victor of the tournament, secured the top-ranking position by overcoming Sinner in the final showdown. Meanwhile, Denis Shapovalov from Richmond Hill, Ont., has moved up three places to No. 26 after his performance in New York, while Gabriel Diallo from Montreal dropped to the 35th position following an early exit in the second round.

In case you missed the action, watch Auger-Aliassime’s intense match against Sinner in the U.S. Open semifinals, where the top seed from Italy emerged victorious with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 scoreline. Sinner is now set to face off against the world No. 2, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, in the final battle.
