Teacher Suspended for Showing Violent Video to Students

-

A Toronto school teacher has been temporarily removed from their position for reportedly displaying a violent video segment to students regarding the shooting death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. The incident occurred at Corvette Junior Public School and was disclosed to parents in a letter from Principal Jennifer Koptie.

According to Koptie, students in Grades 5 and 6 were shown the video in response to a query about a recent tragic event in the United States. The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) confirmed that the video pertained to Kirk’s passing. Koptie expressed deep concern over the incident and deemed it unacceptable, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.

The teacher in question has been relieved of teaching duties during the ongoing investigation and will not be present at the school. Koptie clarified that the teacher was overseeing the class but not the homeroom teacher. The school is prioritizing student support, with a member of the social work team available to offer assistance to students.

Charlie Kirk, known for his right-wing activism and association with former U.S. President Donald Trump, was tragically shot in Orem, Utah, while addressing an outdoor campus gathering.
