Where you’ve seen ITV Coronation Street’s Dom before as soap actor returns to cobbles

Must read

Coronation Street fans are set to see Jenny’s catfish storyline take a different turn in tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, as the landlady heads on a date with businessman Dom Norwood. The new character is played by Dominic Rickhards – who has played a very different role on the soap before.

While Dom tries to persuade Jenny to invest in his latest business venture, she’s completely unaware that he has been hired by her stepdaughter Daisy Midgeley ( Charlotte Jordan ) and Daisy’s birth mother Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) to con money out of her. Dominic Rickhards will certainly be a familiar face for some soap fans, with the actor having taken on guest roles in Heartbeat, The Bill, Doctors and Holby City.

More recently, Dominic played the role of Thomas Stanley, Earl of Derby, in the historical miniseries Royal Bastards: Rise of the Tudors.

Meanwhile, he played the role of Ed Morrison in Hollyoaks back in 2015 and appeared in the 2009 film Fatal Rescue.

Dominic last appeared on Coronation Street in 2000, playing therapist Michael Wall over the course of two years.

In the storyline, he played Jim McDonald’s occupational therapist who helped him to rebuild his life after he was left in a wheelchair by a building site accident. However, Michael soon set his sights on Liz McDonald – Jim’s ex-wife who he was hoping to rekindle a romance with.

Jim ultimately walked in on the pair having sex with one another, and Liz eventually left Weatherfield with Michael to start a new life in Milton Keynes. They returned two years later when Jim was charged with manslaughter and Liz ultimately ended their engagement.

This time, Dominic is playing the role of Dom Norwood on the cobbles and it appears that he may not just be Jenny’s fake love interest. Daisy soon discovers that Christina and Dom have been secretly flirting and worries that Daniel (Rob Mallard) will refuse to move away with her if he finds out about her Jenny plot.

Charlotte is set to leave Coronation Street as Daisy in the coming days, with the 29-year-old admitting that she was left “medically dehydrated” after crying during her final scenes.

“I’m not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight. My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone,” she said. “As soon as they yelled our final cut, we both burst into tears. Typical.”

She added: “The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry. I would look over to Channique [Sterling-Brown] or Julia [Goulding] or Sal [Sally Ann Matthews] during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day.”
