Jacob Rees-Mogg has dismissed the possibility of aligning with Reform UK and affirmed his commitment to the Conservative Party. Amid speculation about potential defections from prominent Tories to Nigel Farage’s right-wing group, Rees-Mogg was observed at Reform UK’s event in Birmingham. When questioned about joining Reform UK, he clarified that his presence was for a separate meeting and reiterated his loyalty to the Conservative Party.
There have been rumors circulating that Rees-Mogg, a former House of Commons leader, might defect to Reform UK. A Tory party source previously indicated that his political stance aligns more closely with Farage than with other Tories, suggesting a potential defection. This development follows the recent switch of former Tory frontbencher Nadine Dorries to Reform UK, who criticized the Conservative Party and expressed doubts about its electoral prospects.
Additionally, several other ex-Tory figures, including Marco Longhi, Anne Marie Morris, Ross Thomson, Aiden Burley, and Sir Jake Berry, have already joined Reform UK. Dame Andrea Jenkyns, a former Tory minister and ally of Boris Johnson, has also defected to Reform. Recently, she made a notable appearance at the Reform conference, wearing a fully sequined blue jumpsuit and performing a song about “insomniacs” in an unconventional manner.
