Exact date ‘mini heatwave’ set to arrive in UK as temperatures reach balmy 22C

Must read

Brits are set to be in store for an exciting “mini heatwave ” that could hit parts of the country and next week and turn the gloomy weather into warmth and summery sunshine.

The exact date people in some parts of the UK will be able to get their sunglasses and hit the parks, or even go for a day at the beach, has been revealed. London is set to get glorious 22C temperatures on Tuesday, April 29 and through to Wednesday, April 30. Manchester and Nottingham are also expected to be hit with 22C temperatures on April 29, according to a Met Office forecast.

Other major cities like Birmingham and Newcastle won’t be far behind as they should experience temperature up to 21C on April 29. People in Glasgow and Edinburgh won’t be missing out as those cities are set to reach 20C as well as Cardiff.

The Met Office’s long range weather forecast from April 28 to May 7 said: “Most likely starting off widely fine with sunny spells, following the clearance of early morning mist and fog. This most likely in the south, whilst in the north there’s a greater chance of more cloud which may take some time to clear.”

The Met Office explained the warm weather might not extend all the way across the UK, saying: “There’s a small chance that fine and very warm weather could extend right across the country over the following days, but it’s more likely that cloud/rain in the northwest will sink southeast introducing more changeable and cooler conditions for a time mid-week.

“It then becomes roughly equal chances that we see a resumption of mainly fine and dry conditions versus a continuation of more changeable weather with a mixture of rain and drier interludes.”

This forecast follows an unseasonably dry April for most of the UK so far. Despite this, parts of the UK were set to be hit by a 25-mile stretch of rain yesterday.

Weather maps from the Met Office showed rain moving east to cover a large area stretching from Dover to Caernarfon in North Wales on Wednesday morning, including London, Manchester and Birmingham. Some patches of wet weather were also set to reach parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Brits have also been warned to brace themselves for a potential Atlantic storm that could batter the country next month. New weather maps, by WX Charts, have revealed that some parts of the country could be blanketed white within a matter of weeks.

According to the data, the exact date the storm could hit the country is May 7. The maps have suggested Wales, Manchester and Plymouth could be hit with these shock conditions, alongside rain. These charts also highlighted some harsh conditions set to hit Aberdeen, Inverness and Wick in Scotland.
