“Canadian Tire & Tim Hortons Announce Rewards Partnership”

-

Canadian Tire and Tim Hortons have announced a new partnership that will bring added benefits to their customers. Beginning next year, patrons who link their Triangle and Tims Rewards accounts will start earning Canadian Tire money on qualifying purchases at Tim Hortons. Additionally, linking these accounts will unlock exclusive offers for customers. Specific details regarding the offers and the earning rate of Canadian Tire money per dollar spent will be disclosed closer to the launch date.

Both companies expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it will enhance the value provided to their loyal customers. This partnership extends the reach of the Triangle Rewards program beyond Canadian Tire’s existing brands to include SportChek, Party City, Mark’s, Pro Hockey Life, and Atmosphere.

The Triangle Rewards program, which already includes incentives for Petro-Canada and Royal Bank of Canada customers, boasts nearly 12 million members. It is a key component of Canadian Tire’s True North initiative, aimed at driving growth and operational efficiency through substantial investments over four years.

Tim Hortons has been expanding its rewards program through initiatives like the Roll Up to Win contest and offering app users the convenience of skipping lines when pre-ordering. Lauren Burrows from Accenture highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership between Tim Hortons and Canadian Tire, emphasizing the opportunity to engage customers in high-frequency spending categories such as coffee, gas, household products, and auto goods.

However, Liza Amlani from the Retail Strategy Group cautioned that while the partnership offers potential benefits, it may face challenges in a saturated loyalty market if the value proposition is not clear and rewarding for customers.

The collaboration between Canadian Tire and Tim Hortons reflects a broader trend in the business world, where companies are revamping and expanding their loyalty programs to better understand customer preferences and drive sales. By partnering with other loyalty programs, businesses can access a wealth of consumer data to tailor their offerings and maximize profits.
