“First Federal Budget Under PM Mark Carney Set for Nov. 4”

-

The upcoming federal budget, the first to be presented by Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government, is set to be tabled in early November. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne announced during Tuesday’s question period that the budget will be introduced on November 4.

The decision to schedule the budget for early November comes as a slight delay compared to previous indications from several ministers who had initially suggested an October release. Government House leader Steven MacKinnon had mentioned just the day before that the budget would be presented next month as part of the Liberal’s fall agenda.

MacKinnon highlighted the significance of the upcoming budget without revealing specific details, emphasizing the prime minister and finance minister’s emphasis on its importance. Traditionally, federal budgets are presented in early spring, but due to the limited sitting of the House following the April election, the Liberals have opted to present it in the fall this year.
