Deer Crashes Through Van Windshield in Germany

-

A driver in a van had a narrow escape when a deer crashed through the windshield during a shocking accident. The incident occurred in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, early on Tuesday morning. The 29-year-old driver collided with the deer, which leaped in front of the van suddenly, resulting in the animal’s antlers piercing the van’s windshield. Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries, while the deer had to be euthanized due to severe injuries.

The collision caused significant damage to the van, with repair costs estimated at €15,000 (£13,100). Firefighters were called to the scene to salvage the vehicle, and the road was temporarily closed for cleanup.

Authorities in Germany are urging drivers to remain vigilant for wildlife, especially on rural roads, following this incident that underscored the potential dangers of unexpected animal encounters during daily commutes.

In a separate incident last month, a horse broke away from a cart during a funeral procession in Dublin, crashing head-first into a car. The horse, part of a procession in Clondalkin, a village west of Dublin, collided with a vehicle after running a red light. The driver expressed shock and frustration immediately after the August 11 incident.

Video footage revealed the injured horse with a swollen face and head, prompting concerns for its well-being. An animal rescue charity, My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue, called for an investigation into the incident, denouncing it as an act of lawlessness and cruelty.
