A senior Russian official has passed away under suspicious circumstances at a luxurious hotel in Moscow. Alexander Fedotov, a former St Petersburg transport leader, was associated with Roman Starovoit, who died in a similar manner after being dismissed by President Vladimir Putin in July. Fedotov’s body was discovered outside the Skypoint Luxe hotel near Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport.
Reportedly, Fedotov was staying on an upper floor of the hotel during a business trip. Authorities are conducting a criminal investigation as no evidence of suicide has been found. Fedotov had resigned abruptly from his position in St Petersburg amid alleged scrutiny by the FSB, Russia’s intelligence agency.
The link between Fedotov and Starovoit, whose death has raised suspicions of foul play, has raised concerns. Both individuals were part of the same team, as per reports from channel VChK-OGPU, known for its law enforcement connections. Another official associated with them has gone missing.
Following these incidents, Boris Avakyan, a former customs chief, was found dead in a toilet after fleeing a court case involving a significant fraud trial. Avakyan, married to beauty queen Yulia Ionina, was discovered with self-inflicted injuries. Additionally, a prominent executive from a military-related chemical composites plant, Alexander Tyunin, was found dead from a gunshot wound.
These incidents add to a series of deaths involving high-ranking figures in Russia, particularly during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Speculation persists that some of these apparent suicides may actually be orchestrated killings associated with business rivalries.
