Residents of Iqaluit are currently under a shelter-in-place advisory following reports of gunfire within a residence. The Nunavut RCMP received a call early Saturday morning regarding a firearm incident on Tasilik Street around 1 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers heard additional gunshots coming from the house. As a precautionary measure, a shelter-in-place directive was issued about 25 minutes later, urging residents to remain indoors, secure their doors, and avoid windows.
Law enforcement officials are still present at the location, although it has not been disclosed whether any arrests have been made. The public is advised to steer clear of the vicinity around the 2200s as the investigation continues. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
