EE has revamped its broadband offerings, surpassing competitors like Sky and Virgin Media. The company now includes its Smart Hub 7 Plus routers with all broadband packages, boasting improved wireless speeds and enhanced coverage with WiFi 7 technology.
WiFi 7, the latest wireless standard, offers significantly faster speeds up to 46 Gbps, lower latency, and higher capacity compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E. This makes it ideal for activities like gaming and high-speed downloads such as 4K content streaming.
Prices for EE broadband packages start at £28.99 per month for a 24-month contract, going up to £39.99 for the 900 Mbps super-fast broadband option. In comparison, Sky provides its new WiFi 7 hub only with gigabit broadband packages, while Virgin Media has yet to offer a WiFi 7 router.
Although EE leads in broadband innovation, it’s important to note that not all devices are compatible with WiFi 7, and its range may be limited for larger households. EE aims to future-proof homes with its gaming and streaming capabilities, offering up to £300 in exit fees for new customers switching over.
Uswitch highlighted EE broadband as a reliable choice for those prioritizing strong service. However, for budget-conscious consumers or those seeking simpler broadband deals, alternatives like Plusnet, NOW Broadband, or TalkTalk may be more suitable. Despite potentially higher costs, EE stands out for its exceptional customer service and reliability throughout the contract term.
