A Hollywood producer, David Pearce, has been sentenced to nearly 150 years in prison for the rape and murder of two models. The judge’s ruling ensures Pearce will remain incarcerated until 2171. This severe sentence follows his involvement in the drug overdose deaths of Christy Giles, 24, and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, on November 13, 2021.
Pearce, aged 42, administered lethal drugs to the women at his Beverly Hills residence after meeting them at a party. Subsequently, they were abandoned outside different hospitals in Los Angeles by unidentified individuals. In addition to these crimes, Pearce was found guilty of multiple sexual assaults on seven other victims between 2007 and 2021.
The sentencing, totaling 146 years, includes a maximum term of 25 years to life for each murder, along with additional penalties for the sexual assault charges. Judge Eleanor Hunter criticized Pearce, labeling him as a manipulative and remorseless criminal with no compassion for his victims.
Although Cabrales-Arzola was resuscitated at the hospital, she suffered irreversible brain damage and passed away almost two weeks later. Giles, unfortunately, was already deceased upon arrival at the hospital. During the trial, it was revealed that Pearce callously remarked that “dead girls can’t talk,” indicating a desire for the victims’ demise.
Pearce denied directly giving the drugs to the women and claimed ignorance of their drug consumption. He also refuted the allegations of sexual assault against the victims. The sister of Cabrales-Arzola expressed frustration that Pearce had not faced consequences earlier, citing previous rape allegations against him dating back to 2007.
Pearce’s co-defendant, Brandt Walter Osborn, faced charges of accessory after the fact but a mistrial was declared due to a hung jury. The LAPD had reportedly received rape allegations against Pearce on multiple occasions before the tragic events of 2021.
