William Dandjinou showcased remarkable performance in speed skating on Sunday as he secured three medals, bringing his total to five over the two-day event in Montreal. The Canadian team, led by Dandjinou, dominated the Short Track World Tour competition.
Dandjinou, along with Danaé Blais, Courtney Sarault, and Félix Roussel, clinched the gold in the 2,000-meter mixed relay race with a time of 2:37.599. They surged ahead during the 10th lap and held the lead to triumph over South Korea and Poland.
In the men’s 1,000 meters, Dandjinou and his Canadian teammate Steven Dubois secured a 1-2 finish with Dandjinou clocking in at 1:25.417, narrowly ahead of Dubois. South Korea’s Hwang Daeheon claimed the bronze.
The Canadian team continued its success in the men’s 5,000 relay, with Dandjinou, Maxime Laoun, Dubois, and Roussel crossing the finish line first with a time of 6:57.743, outperforming the Netherlands and Italy.
Canada wrapped up the weekend with a total of 10 medals and concluded their two-week home event with 17 medals, including 10 gold, three silver, and four bronze. They currently lead the Team Crystal Globe standings with a substantial margin over the Korean White Tigers.
Dandjinou and Sarault are currently leading in the Crystal Globe standings with comfortable leads in their respective categories. The upcoming Short Track World Tour stops include Gdansk, Poland, and Dordrecht, Netherlands, with the world championships scheduled to take place in Montreal in March.
