Allied Pharmacies Rescues 60 Jhoots Locations

-

A popular pharmacy chain on the high street has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of a competitor facing financial difficulties. Allied Pharmacies has assumed control over 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations, most of which are currently closed. However, Allied has assured the public of its commitment to restoring essential pharmacy services at these sites.

This acquisition expands Allied’s reach to approximately 210 branches spanning England and Wales. The company emphasized the importance of community pharmacies in promoting public health and well-being, acknowledging the impact of closures on vulnerable groups reliant on local healthcare services. Their immediate focus is on swiftly resuming pharmaceutical services at the acquired branches.

Recent reports revealed that Jhoots Pharmacies had been shutting down some of its outlets, raising concerns about limited access to healthcare services in affected communities. Allegations surfaced regarding staff facing payment delays and financial struggles due to the closures.

The ownership of Jhoots Pharmacies is divided between Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty. Manjit’s businesses oversee over 20 Jhoots branches, while Sarbjit is linked to the remaining 129 outlets. Both brothers have addressed the challenges within their respective portfolios, with Manjit affirming the financial stability and operational efficiency of his pharmacies.

Sarbjit acknowledged workforce and recruitment issues in his pharmacies and assured the public of ongoing efforts to address these concerns. The Mirror sought comments from Jhoots regarding the recent developments.
