Nick Reiner, the son of well-known actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has been apprehended in connection with the tragic deaths of his parents at their residence in Los Angeles. The bodies of Rob and Michele were found by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, who later confirmed the deaths as a homicide.
Rob Reiner, famous for his role as Mike Stivic in the TV series “All in the Family” before transitioning to a successful directing career with films like “The Princess Bride” and “This is Spinal Tap,” met Michele, a photographer, on the set of “When Harry Met Sally…,” a film he directed.
Nick Reiner, aged 32, is one of three children born to Rob and Michele, with an older brother, Jake Reiner, aged 34, and a younger sister, Romy Reiner, aged 27. Nick has faced challenges with drug addiction since his teenage years, at times leading to periods of homelessness. He disclosed in a 2016 interview with People magazine that he entered rehab for the first time at 15 and had multiple stays in facilities afterward.
Nick and Rob collaborated on a film titled “Being Charlie,” released in 2016, where Nick wrote the script and Rob directed. The movie, which won the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Voice Award for best film that year, is loosely inspired by Nick’s personal battle with addiction.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced in a statement that Nick Reiner is being held responsible for the deaths of his parents and was arrested without bail on Sunday evening. The specific charges against him were not immediately disclosed, with the police planning to present their case to the district attorney. As of now, representatives for the Reiner family have not issued any statements, and it remains unclear if Nick Reiner has legal representation.
