“Urgent Plea After Car Hits Woman with Stroller”

-

Authorities issued an urgent plea following a car striking a woman walking with a stroller after mounting the sidewalk. The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on the R617 road between Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman in her thirties and the baby were swiftly taken to a hospital in Cork. The woman’s injuries are reported as non-life-threatening, while the baby emerged unscathed, described as a ‘miraculous’ outcome by a local fire brigade member.

Witnesses to the collision or those with potential dashcam footage from the area at the time are encouraged to contact emergency services. A spokesperson from the Garda mentioned, “Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene of a car accident involving two pedestrians, a woman in her thirties, and a male infant in Blarney, Co. Cork, at approximately 4:30 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Both pedestrians were transported to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”

No additional injuries were reported, and the scene underwent technical examination before reopening the road. Gardaí are seeking witnesses, including individuals with dashcam or video recordings from the area at the time.

Local councilor Damian Boylan expressed sympathy for the victim and praised the efforts of the Gardaí and emergency services. He remarked, “This was an unfortunate incident, and we are fortunate that no fatalities occurred. However, it must have been a terrifying ordeal. My thoughts are with the woman and her family. I trust that the Gardaí are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
