Scrubs is gearing up for a return to television screens in early next year, with fans noticing an interesting detail about the cast of the upcoming 10th season. The sitcom originally aired on NBC for seven seasons from 2001 to 2008, following the lives of Doctor John ‘JD’ Dorian (portrayed by Zach Braff) and his colleagues at Sacred Heart Hospital.
After NBC decided not to renew the show, ABC took over for the eighth season, which was initially meant to be the final one. However, a ninth season titled ‘Med School’ was commissioned in late 2009, featuring a new setting at a medical school with fresh faces. ABC eventually canceled the series in 2010, but now, 15 years later, Scrubs is back in production for a 10th season set to premiere in February 2026.
The upcoming season will see many original cast members making a comeback, including Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, Donald Faison as Christopher Turk, and Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa.
Fans eagerly following the official Scrubs account on TikTok were thrilled to see a video announcing the start of production for the 10th season, where several cast members held up signs saying “now in production.” Observant viewers pointed out that some actors seemed to have defied aging, maintaining their youthful looks even after so many years.
Viewers were quick to praise Sarah Chalke’s timeless appearance, with comments like “It’s like Sarah Chalke doesn’t age at all.” Similarly, Donald Faison also received compliments on his seemingly unchanged look over the years.
Notably, John C. McGinley was missing from the video, sparking concerns among fans who couldn’t imagine a Scrubs reboot without his character, Dr. Perry Cox. However, it has been confirmed that McGinley will reprise his role in the reboot.
Sadly, one character who will be absent from the new season is Ted Buckland, played by Sam Lloyd, who passed away in 2020. Fans expressed their sadness over the loss, noting that the show will feel incomplete without him.
Scrubs season 10 is scheduled to debut on ABC in the US in February 2026. While the original series can be streamed on Disney+ in the UK, there is no official announcement yet on where Season 10 will be available for UK viewers.
