Andy Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, showcased his impressive golf skills at the recent Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-Am, boasting a golf handicap of two. Despite his golf prowess, Murray is slightly trailing behind Gareth Bale in this regard.

Since retiring from tennis, Murray has been actively participating in various Pro-Am tournaments, including the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. His recent golfing endeavors took him back to Scotland, where he played on remarkable courses such as Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and St Andrews, alongside professional golfer Eddie Pepperell.

During the team championship, Murray delivered a standout performance at Carnoustie, culminating in a birdie on the final hole. He even shared the fairway with Ryder Cup hero Tyrrell, occasionally out-driving him. Murray also fondly recalled his experience at St Andrews’ Old Course, where he eagled the 18th hole earlier this year with just two shots.

Reflecting on his golfing aspirations, Murray expressed his desire to compete in The Open’s regional qualifying rounds, aiming to eventually feature in this prestigious tournament. He acknowledged the vast gap in skill level between amateur players like himself and professional golfers but remains determined to improve and potentially qualify for The Open in the future.

Looking ahead, Murray envisions participating in The Open’s qualifying rounds within the next couple of years, hoping to reach a competitive level while acknowledging the challenge ahead. His passion for golf and ambition to excel in the sport continue to drive his pursuit of new athletic achievements.
