A new option for households seeking TV access without monthly fees has emerged. Initially introduced in 2024, Freely provided live channel access through broadband on select new TVs. However, in the last 18 months, more manufacturers like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp have integrated Freely into their screens. Until recently, individuals desiring live and on-demand content through Freely had to purchase a new television.
Fortunately, Manhattan’s technology team has unveiled the Aero 4K, a new Freely-powered set-top box that extends this service to existing TVs in homes. This innovative device delivers over 60 free live channels and on-demand content, eliminating the need for costly subscriptions.
The Aero 4K boasts features such as voice search, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the capability to pause live shows. Subscribers to platforms like Disney+ and Netflix can also access these apps through the device.
Priced at £69.99, the Aero 4K has gained popularity. Currys is the first UK store offering this product, with the latest update revealing it is currently out of stock. However, the retailer confirmed that the device will be restocked shortly.
Interested consumers can sign up on the Currys website to receive alerts when the Aero 4K is available again. Additionally, other retailers like Amazon and John Lewis are expected to start selling the device soon.
Once back in stock, the Aero 4K will compete with devices such as Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, all of which eliminate the need for antennas or satellite dishes by delivering shows, sports, and movies over the internet.
Transitioning to streaming offers benefits like simplified installation processes without requiring engineer visits and regular over-the-air updates. Freely has recently surpassed one million users, indicating a growing trend of viewers abandoning traditional content consumption methods for streaming services.
