A horse racing trainer from Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, has been disqualified after verbally attacking a racing steward during an inspection. Garry Lunn, a successful trainer with over 500 wins, clashed with steward Xavier Dalton when discrepancies were found in stable records during an audit in September.
The situation escalated when Lunn unleashed a tirade of insults and expletives at Dalton, calling him derogatory names and questioning his competence. Despite Dalton’s attempts to diffuse the situation, Lunn persisted in his aggressive behavior, even following Dalton to his car and continuing the verbal abuse.
As a result of his behavior, Lunn was charged with obstructing Dalton from performing his duties and engaging in improper and insulting conduct. Although Lunn denied the charges, he was found guilty and handed a three-month disqualification for the first offense and a nine-month disqualification for the second offense, to be served concurrently from November 14, 2025, to August 14, 2026.
