“Oster Toaster Oven Recall Expanded Over Burn Risk”

-

Health Canada has decided to expand the recall of several Oster toaster oven models due to a defect in the glass French doors that can unexpectedly close and cause burns to consumers. The affected models include TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDDG-033, TSSTTVFDXLPP-033, and TSSTTVFDDAF-033, all experiencing the same issue. Consumers can locate the model number on the appliance’s back or the original packaging.

Initially announced in September, the recall has now been extended to include another model, TSSTTVFDDG-033. Oster has reported that 104,195 units were sold in Canada between August 2015 and July 2025. Health Canada advises Canadians to discontinue using these ovens immediately and contact Sunbeam Products Inc. for a complimentary repair kit.

Oster will provide customers with a clip-on device to prevent the doors from closing during oven operation, along with installation instructions. The company is not offering refunds or replacements for the affected ovens. The recall also affects models sold in the United States, with 95 injury reports from U.S. consumers due to doors closing unexpectedly, resulting in two second-degree burns.

No injuries have been reported in Canada. For more details, Canadians can visit https://recall.oster.com or contact Sunbeam at 1-800-667-8623 from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
