Rush Teases “Special” Surprise for 2026 Juno Awards

-

Legendary rock band Rush has teased a “special” surprise slated for the 2026 Juno Awards in Hamilton on Sunday. In a newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a unique moment with Geddy & Alex, prompting speculation among followers. The mysterious message was accompanied by a direct link to purchase Juno Awards tickets for the event happening on March 29.

Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced plans for a 2026 tour, marking their return to the stage. This tour will feature Anika Nilles, who stepped in as the drummer following the passing of Neil Peart in 2020 due to brain cancer. Nilles, a talented German drummer with a significant online presence through her popular YouTube channel, previously toured with Jeff Beck in 2022, impressing audiences and earning accolades from industry veterans.

Although no specific details were disclosed, fans are eagerly anticipating the potential Juno Awards performance as it would be the first public appearance of Rush’s current lineup before embarking on their upcoming world tour.

Known as Fifty Something, the tour is set to kick off in Los Angeles in June, with highlights including four shows in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena in August, along with stops in Vancouver and Edmonton in December.

Since its formation in Toronto in 1968, Rush has built a remarkable legacy, releasing 19 studio albums over the years. The band boasts an impressive collection of achievements, including 24 gold albums, 14 platinum albums, and three multi-platinum albums. Recently, on March 13, Rush unveiled the Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe box set, featuring the band’s iconic 1984 concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, a testament to their enduring creative prowess.

Having claimed various Juno Awards throughout their career, Rush’s accolades include the Juno for most promising group in 1975 and consecutive wins for group of the year in ’78 and ’79. Their total Juno Award count stands at 10, with notable recognition for the best hard rock/metal album in 1991 for their 13th album, Presto.

CBC Music has sought further comments from the band, adding to the anticipation surrounding Rush’s future endeavors.
