“Summer McIntosh Shatters World Record at Canadian Swimming Trials”

Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh set a new world record in the women’s 400-meter freestyle event at the national swimming trials in Victoria. Her impressive time of 3 minutes and 54.18 seconds surpassed the previous record held by Australia’s Ariarne Titmus by more than a second. McIntosh, known for her focused demeanor, displayed rare emotion after achieving this feat, indicating her surprise at her exceptional performance.

Following McIntosh’s record-breaking swim, Ella Jansen secured second place with a time of 4:07.36, qualifying for the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. McIntosh, who already holds multiple world records, expressed her gratitude for the remarkable achievement and the hard work that led to it.

In a separate event, Kylie Masse clinched victory in the women’s 100-meter backstroke with a time of 58.18 seconds, surpassing her previous performance. Masse attributed her success to a combination of stepping back and maintaining her dedication to training.

Meanwhile, Mary-Sophie Harvey celebrated her first trials win in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke, setting a personal best time of 2:23.40. Other winners at the event included Oliver Dawson, Cole Pratt, Ethan Ekk, Aly Van Wyck-Smart, Ali Diehl, and Nicholas Bennett in various swimming categories.
