“‘Ketamine Queen’ Pleads Guilty in Matthew Perry Case”

-

A woman identified as the “Ketamine Queen,” accused of selling the drug that led to Matthew Perry’s death, has agreed to plead guilty. Jasveen Sangha is the fifth and final defendant in the case involving the passing of the Friends star to reach a plea deal with federal prosecutors, thereby avoiding a scheduled trial for September. Sangha has admitted guilt to five federal charges, including providing the ketamine that resulted in Perry’s demise. Her attorney, Mark Geragos, briefly mentioned that she is taking responsibility for her actions.

Sangha, a 42-year-old dual citizen of the U.S. and the U.K., was portrayed by prosecutors as a significant drug supplier known as the “Ketamine Queen.” She has agreed to plead guilty to charges such as maintaining a drug-related location, distributing ketamine, and distributing ketamine leading to death or serious injury.

The agreement comes a year after federal authorities announced charges against five individuals linked to Perry’s death in 2023. Sangha confessed to selling ketamine to Cody McLaury, who died from an overdose in 2019, hours after purchasing the drug. Notably, McLaury was not connected to Perry.

Prosecutors will dismiss three ketamine distribution charges and one unrelated methamphetamine distribution charge against Sangha. She will officially enter a guilty plea at a forthcoming hearing, where sentencing will be determined. The potential prison sentence could reach up to 45 years, although prosecutors plan to request a lesser term.

Perry’s assistant discovered him deceased in his Los Angeles residence in 2023, with the medical examiner attributing ketamine as the primary cause of death. Sangha, who flaunted a lavish lifestyle on social media, was depicted as a dealer catering to high-end clientele.

Perry had been using ketamine as an off-label depression treatment obtained from his regular physician. Subsequently, he procured more ketamine from Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Sangha, leading up to his passing. Sangha’s residence was raided in 2024, revealing substantial quantities of illegal drugs, and she has been in federal custody for about a year.

None of the defendants have been sentenced yet. As part of her plea deal, Sangha has agreed not to challenge the confiscation of her assets, including over $5,000 in cash. Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, struggled with addiction for years, despite achieving fame on the popular TV series alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.
