Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes have secured another victory on their home turf. The duo, who won silver at the Paris Olympics, emerged triumphant at the Montreal Elite16 event on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour by defeating Germany’s Svenja Muller and Cinja Tillmann. Wilkerson and Humana-Paredes clinched the gold in straight sets (21-15, 22-20) at Parc Jean-Drapeau, marking their second title together at this tournament.

Reflecting on their win, Humana-Paredes expressed the special feeling of competing on home soil, emphasizing the positive energy and environment that propelled them to success. She described the experience as a homecoming following their Olympic journey, highlighting the emotional intensity and support from the crowd. Wilkerson echoed her partner’s sentiments, acknowledging the tough competition they faced and the significance of their achievement in the season.

In a challenging tournament, Wilkerson noted the pressure from other teams seeking to capitalize on their status but credited their ability to leverage it for momentum. The Toronto pair also avenged a previous loss by defeating Brazil’s Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Santos in the semifinals. Muller and Tillmann secured their spot in the final by overcoming Latvia’s Graudina and Samoilova in a three-set match.

Looking ahead, Germany will host the upcoming Beach Pro Tour Elite event in Hamburg later this month, from Aug. 27-31, as the competition continues to unfold across different locations.
