Canadian shot put athlete Sarah Mitton secured second place at the recent Diamond League track and field event in Brussels. The event was won by American Chase Jackson, who set a meet record with a throw of 20.90 meters. Mitton, who had already secured her spot in the upcoming Diamond League Final in Zurich, achieved a distance of 19.89 meters.
Hailing from Brooklyn, N.S., Mitton currently holds the third position in the standings, trailing behind world champion Jackson and Jessica Schilder from the Netherlands, who won silver behind Mitton at the indoor world championships earlier this year. Mitton claimed her first Diamond League Trophy in September last year, joining the ranks of past winners such as Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, Dylan Armstrong, and Andre De Grasse.
