A mum was left flabbergasted by the ‘hack of the century’ that allowed her to blow up an inflatable pool with ease by using common household item.
As the weather has become warmer, many have brought out their summer clothes and garden items to take advantage of the sunshine. However, if you have a child or a pet, you might be in the middle of the yearly struggle of pumping up a pool or other inflatable items to enjoy in the garden. While it might sound like a tedious task, one mum has shared a simple hack that will allow you to inflate your pool in minutes without having to go and by and expensive electric pump.
Emma Will is a mother of six who took to her social media to share her struggle of trying to pump up an inflatable pool for her young kids while they were at school.
However, things didn’t go as planned as she found that the hand pump she’d used for other inflatable toys wasn’t compatible with the pool.
“How many of us are blowing up swimming pools right now as we speak before the kids finish school? Because I am one of them, and I’m having to use this pump,” Emma said at the start of the video, showing off the small hand pump. “It is ridiculous. But you know what, I’m probably building up some muscle in my arms, I don’t know. I look absolutely ridiculous, let me show you.”
She went on to show that the pump didn’t fit properly into the airhole of the pool. This meant that she had to try to wedge the pump into it, and then hold it tightly as she pumped with her other hand.
“This is all I’ve got. And I’m not going to Argos to pick up a pump,” she said before explaining that she’d managed to pump up other inflatable items with the pump, just not the pool.
“It’s doing the trick, but it’s literally taking me forever to do, and my arm [is] killing me,” she said.
However, her viewers soon came to the rescue by sharing a simple hack to blow up inflatable items with an item you most likely already have at home.
“Use a hairdryer with the cold setting, I promise you it’s a life saver!” one viewer had commented on Emma’s video.
Complaining that her hands were hurting from having to hold the pump tightly to not let any air escape, Emma decided to try out the hack.
“If this works, it’s gotta be the hack of the century,” she said, showing that the pool wasn’t pumped up fully yet despite having pumped it by hand.
The video then cut to Emma holding the hair dryer, which is blowing out cold air, as she opens up the pump hole to continue fill the pool up with air. Despite the hairdryer being too big to fit into the hole, just having it hover closely above it immediately made it fill up even more with air.
“Wow,” her son exclaims as Emma is seen smiling in disbelief that the simple hack worked. “Instantly, oh my goodness.”
“I’m flabbergasted,” Emma said as she continued to see how well the simple hairdryer trick worked to pump up the inflatable pool.
“Who knew a hairdryer would put up a swimming pool,” she said in a follow-up video, saying her children were now able to enjoy it in the garden.
