Blue Ivy’s life from stage debut to Guinness World Record as she joins Beyoncé on Cowboy Carter tour

Must read

Blue Ivy Carter, the eldest daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, has come a long way since her first stage debut and has flourished in the spotlight, now joining her world-famous mum for her Cowboy Carter Tour.

Beyoncé, 42, kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour this week on April 28 at the Los Angeles SoFi Stadium. The tour debut was packed with chart-topping hits, such as American Requiem and Levii’s Jeans, as well as older tracks like Crazy in Love and Formation.

The superstar pulled out all the stops when it came to her outfits with classic cowboy hats, chaps, diamond denim, and a glitzy bodysuit with fringing to tie in with the cowboy theme. But one moment that really stole the show was her daughter, Blue Ivy’s, performance centre stage to America Has a Problem.

Blue Ivy, who is almost as tall as her mum, oozed confidence as she graced the stage for the energetic dance while her mum belted out the hit behind her – a far cry from her first stage debut. As Blue Ivy joins her mum on tour, we’ve taken a look back at her rise to global fame as she follows in her mother’s superstar footsteps…

Blue Ivy is the eldest daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and was born on January 7, 2012, making her now 13 years old. She has two twin siblings, Rumi and Sir, who her famous parents welcomed on June 13, 2017.

Even as a baby, Blue Ivy was notable one of the most famous children in the world, but she’s since found her own name in the industry.

Blue Ivy swiftly started her dancing career and appeared in her mum’s music videos for Spirit and Formation. In 2022, she performed at the Academy Awards as Beyoncé sang Be Alive from the film King Richard.

This led to global success as she appeared on stage during Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour, making her first notable appearance in Paris two years ago as she danced to My Power and My Parade. She continued to grace the stage during the tour, performing alongside her superstar mum.

Her mum shared a rare post on Instagram in tribute to her daughter’s performance, writing: “My beautiful first born. I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama. You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

In July 2023, her grandmother Tina Knowles sweetly told People: “She’s having the time of her life, and I couldn’t be more proud of her because she really worked hard. She is 11 years old, and she had one week to prepare, and she’s just getting better and better. So, I’m the proud grandma, always.”

Her confidence on stage has continued to grow, with sharpened choreography, and her appearances have often gone viral. Commenting on her improved footwork, one fan wrote on TikTok: “Watching her confidence grow throughout the tour has made me so proud! She’s improved so much.”

Another noted Blue Ivy’s stardom and humouredly remarked: “It’s so beautiful that Blue allowed Beyoncé to dance at her concert.” She also danced during Beyoncé’s NFL 2024 Christmas Day Halftime Show in Texas, which sent fans into a frenzy with her impressive moves.

Adding to her success, Blue Ivy holds two Guinness World Records. One was when she was just two days old, having had her vocals recorded by her dad, Jay-Z, which then appeared on his song Glory. This meant she became the youngest person to have a song appear on a Billboard chart as her dad released the track in tribute to her.

The second is for her vocals on the opening and closing of Beyoncé’s track Brown Skin Girl, where she has a writing credit for the song. This meant she became the youngest individually credited winner at the Grammy Awards as her mum won best music video.

She also made her movie debut in 2024 in Mufasa: The Lion King as the voice of Princess Kiara, while her mum played the role of Queen Nala.

As a budding fashion enthusiast, Blue Ivy has modelled for her mum’s Adidas x IVY PARK collection and appeared in an advert with Beyoncé for the brand in 2021, where they wore matching checked outfits.

The talented teen is a two-time BET Award winner. She first won in 2020 for her contribution to the song Brown Skin Girl and won the YoungStars Award in 2024.

Congratulating her granddaughter, Tina Knowles wrote a lengthy Instagram post and shared a closer insight into the life of Blue Ivy. It read: “Congratulations my Blue Blue! I marvel at your talent, your beauty, your intelligence, but I am most proud of your kindness and down to earth attitude.

“Never attention seeking, just cool and chill as a cucumber all the time. Yesterday you played the piano for just me like someone who has been taking lessons for years. But you are self taught. One day I hope you will let me post it and brag like other grandmas get to do. But for now you made me swear to not share.

“You play sports, play the piano, dance like a pro in front of 80k people. Paint like a fine artist, draw so well, sing so beautifully. (Voice like an angel). Voiced an award-winning, best-selling children’s book. You are also in a soon to come blockbuster movie Lion King. One of the youngest recipients of a Grammy Award. And you turned only 12 years old a few months ago.

“And in spite of all the challenged adults who struggle with the green-eyed monster disease, in true Carter/Knowles/Beyonce tradition it just motivates you to keep it moving. Congratulations BIC you deserve everything you work hard to get. Thank you BET #betawards for this honour.”
