Blue Jays’ Kirk on IL; Sanchez set to step in vs. Tigers

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed their star catcher, Alejandro Kirk, on the seven-day injured list due to a concussion. Following this decision, the team has added catcher Ali Sanchez to the Major League roster, and he is set to play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers. Kirk, aged 26, was forced to leave Saturday’s 6-1 victory over the Tigers in the fourth inning after being hit by a foul tip on his face mask. Tyler Heineman substituted for him thereafter. Kirk currently ranks sixth in MLB with an impressive batting average of .304, along with seven home runs and 47 runs batted in over 88 games this season.
