A mother who underwent a botched plastic surgery procedure in Turkey has developed a severe infection that is causing damage to her skin. Soreena O’Malley, residing in Hull, issued a cautionary message to fellow mothers contemplating cosmetic procedures overseas. She traveled to Turkey for a tummy tuck and 360 liposuction after seeing an advertisement on Facebook.
Unfortunately, three months post-surgery, she is confined to her bed in the UK as the NHS confirmed the surgery was improperly performed. Soreena is struggling with poor wound circulation and has had to undergo emergency treatment through the NHS.
She now faces a significant wound on her stomach, hindering her ability to perform daily tasks like dressing herself. Expressing her distress, she shared, “Being bedridden for months after a surgery I saved up for due to body image concerns is disheartening. I had longed for this transformation since giving birth.”
Following the overseas surgery, Soreena described the infection as deteriorating her skin and causing a substantial cavity in her abdomen. She expressed concern for others contemplating foreign cosmetic surgeries, emphasizing her disappointment in the care received.
Recalling the lead-up to the surgery, Soreena recounted feeling uneasy upon arrival at the hospital at 3 am, where she was allegedly informed she needed to prepay for the surgery to secure a bed for the night. Additionally, she claimed that the consent forms were presented in Turkish without translation services available.
The NHS advises caution when considering packaged cosmetic surgery deals from websites. It is recommended to have a consultation with the surgeon, visit the hospital in advance, and meet the surgeon before making any payments.
Soreena’s partner has initiated a gofundme campaign to raise funds for corrective surgery, with a target of £5,000. As of now, £426 has been raised. To contribute, visit the fundraising page linked here.
