“Breakthrough Leads in Disappearance of Teen Rebecca Reusch”

-

German authorities are optimistic about a significant development in the case of missing teenager Rebecca Reusch as they follow up on fresh leads and investigate a property associated with her grandparents.

Law enforcement revealed today that the property in question is owned by the grandparents of Rebecca’s brother-in-law, who has been a person of interest since her disappearance in 2019. Investigators suspect that Rebecca may have met with foul play at the hands of her brother-in-law on February 18 of that year.

Despite extensive efforts, no trace of Rebecca has been found since she went missing. The brother-in-law, now 33 years old, was detained twice in March 2019 but released due to insufficient evidence.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, they believe that the accused, now 33, could have harmed his then 15-year-old sister-in-law on February 18, 2019, and transported her body and belongings to his grandparents’ property in Tauche.

Rebecca, a schoolgirl, was reported missing after staying at her sister and brother-in-law’s residence in the Berlin suburb of Britz, Germany. The alarm was raised when she did not show up for school after her sister left early the next day.

On the day of her disappearance, the brother-in-law’s vehicle was spotted on the A12 highway heading towards Frankfurt in central Germany. Authorities are currently combing through the property in Brandenburg, located approximately 54 miles southwest of Berlin.

Police are conducting thorough searches of the residence and a garage area using various tools such as drones, ground-penetrating radar, and an excavator. A cadaver dog has also been deployed at the scene, and local residents have been questioned.

Around 115 police officers are involved in the search, as reported by German media outlet Die Zeit. Further examinations of the property are scheduled to take place in the coming days.

Prosecutors have requested the public to refrain from interfering with the investigation, especially after unauthorized online investigations were conducted.
