Canada Falls to Poland 3-1 in Men’s Volleyball World Championship

Canada’s journey at the men’s volleyball world championship came to an end as they were defeated 3-1 by top-seeded Poland in Pasay City, Philippines. Despite a strong effort, the Canadians could not maintain their momentum after claiming the second set following Poland’s initial 25-18 lead. Ultimately, Poland secured victory with scores of 25-20 and 25-14 in the final sets.

Although Canada had a slight advantage in attack points with 52 against Poland’s 48, they struggled with 35 errors compared to Poland’s 16.

Leading the scoring for Canada was Sharone Vernon-Evans with 23 points. Poland now advances to the quarterfinals where they will face Turkey.

Canadian head coach Dan Lewis expressed pride in his team’s resilience, emphasizing the need to reflect on their performance and strive for improvement to reach the highest level in future competitions. Lewis commended the dedication and effort of the athletes and staff involved in the summer program.
