Vancouver Canucks’ forward Brock Boeser was absent from the team’s recent match against the Washington Capitals in Washington, D.C., citing personal reasons. Canucks’ general manager, Patrik Allvin, disclosed this information via the team’s social media platforms on Sunday morning, refraining from specifying when Boeser would rejoin the team on the ice.
To fill Boeser’s spot in the lineup against the Capitals, Jonathan Lekkerimaki was called up for the game. Boeser, who has netted three goals in five matches for Vancouver this season, notably secured a crucial goal in the shootout that led the team to a 3-2 victory against Chicago on Friday.
The 28-year-old right-winger avoided testing free agency in July by committing to a new seven-year contract worth $50.75 million US with the Canucks. Initially drafted 23rd overall by Vancouver in the 2015 draft, Boeser has demonstrated his loyalty to the team by playing all 559 regular-season NHL games with the Canucks, achieving an impressive record of 207 goals and 237 assists in his career.
