“Champion Jockey Hollie Doyle Speaks Out Amid Role Change”

-

Hollie Doyle has recently spoken out for the first time since losing her position as the primary rider for owner-breeder Imad Al Sagar. Doyle, known as Britain’s most successful female jockey with over 1,000 wins in the UK alone, made history by winning the French Oaks, Prix de Diane, in 2022 aboard Nashwa, a filly bred and owned by Al Sagar. Nashwa played a significant role in elevating Doyle’s career on the racing scene, securing three Group 1 victories in races like the Nassau and Falmouth Stakes before retiring.

Having been appointed as Al Sagar’s inaugural retained jockey in 2020, Doyle rode 38 winners during her tenure. In her latest race at Newbury, she finished a close second on Rouane in a novice race for two-year-old fillies. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the upcoming Ebor Festival at York, set to commence on August 20, 2025. The festival promises an exciting conclusion to the racing season, with The Mirror offering readers comprehensive coverage, including exclusive shop bets from William Hill.

Champion jockey Oisin Murphy is gearing up to ride Gamrai at Windsor, with the John and Thady Gosden-trained colt expected to start as the second favorite in a maiden race. Murphy will now serve as the first-choice jockey when not racing for Qatar Racing, following a strategic shift in his commitments. Al Sagar’s racing manager, Teddy Grimthorpe, explained that the decision to part ways with Doyle was driven by a desire for strategic change, with Oisin Murphy’s services being sought after. Despite the change, Doyle expressed her gratitude for the opportunities she had with Al Sagar’s team, emphasizing her respect for him and wishing them success in the future.
