Two Israeli individuals lost their lives during a reported “terror incident” at Allenby Crossing, the primary access point for Palestinians traveling from the Israeli-held West Bank to Jordan, as stated by Israel’s military. The Israeli emergency response service confirmed the fatalities of the two men, while the assailant was neutralized by security personnel.
Following the episode, the Israeli military disclosed that they had eliminated a “terrorist” who had arrived in a truck carrying humanitarian supplies from Jordan and initiated gunfire. Jordan’s government representative mentioned that authorities were actively monitoring the situation.
No specific group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Notably, earlier this month, the Palestinian militant faction Hamas took credit for a shooting incident near Jerusalem that resulted in the deaths of six individuals.
Subsequently, Jordan announced the closure of the Allenby bridge, a pivotal trade passageway connecting Jordan and Israel, from the Israeli side. In a prior event in September 2024, a gunman from Jordan had fatally shot three Israelis at the Allenby Crossing before being fatally shot by security forces, leading to the closure of the crossing for a two-day period.
