Dodgers dominate Brewers, take 3-0 lead in NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) as Tommy Edman’s crucial single in the sixth inning broke the tie against rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski. With this win, the Dodgers now lead the series 3-0, edging closer to becoming the first defending champion to reach the World Series since the 2009 Philadelphia Phillies. The last team to achieve back-to-back titles was the New York Yankees from 1998 to 2000.

Shohei Ohtani kickstarted the scoring for the Dodgers with a triple in the first inning, followed by Mookie Betts’ double that brought him home. The Brewers managed to tie the game in the second inning with a run off Tyler Glasnow, who, alongside other Dodgers starters, has maintained an impressive 1.54 postseason ERA during their 8-1 playoff run.

Misiorowski’s standout performance for the Brewers included a record-breaking nine strikeouts of postseason rookies. Edman’s pivotal hit, driving in Will Smith and Freddie Freeman, gave the Dodgers the lead they held onto. Errors by the Brewers aided the Dodgers’ cause, allowing them to secure the win.

Glasnow put up a solid performance, allowing only one run on three hits and three walks while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings before receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. The Dodgers’ bullpen continued the strong showing, limiting the Brewers to just one hit in the remaining 3 1/3 innings.

Milwaukee, despite having swept the Dodgers during the regular season, struggled on the road, losing their last 10 postseason away games. The Brewers have been limited to three runs and nine hits in the series, while the Dodgers have excelled defensively, becoming the first team to allow no more than one run and four hits or fewer in four consecutive postseason games.

Looking ahead, Ohtani will make his second postseason start following an impressive performance in the NL Division Series against Philadelphia. On the offensive side, Ohtani has had mixed results, with one home run and six RBIs in nine postseason games. Milwaukee’s starting pitcher for the next game is yet to be announced.
