Kai Trump, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, has revealed her upcoming debut on the LPGA Tour scheduled later this year.
Set to take place at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, in November, the Annika Driven By Gainbridge event will mark Kai’s first appearance on the LPGA Tour. This tournament, serving as the penultimate event of the year, presents a significant opportunity for the emerging golf star.
Following her attendance alongside her grandfather Donald at the Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black, New York, where Team Europe secured a 15-13 victory over Team USA, the 18-year-old received a special gift from Whoop, a sponsor typically reserved for Team USA members and staff.
With a prize fund totaling $3.25 million (£2.46m), Kai has decided to temporarily halt her studies at the University of Miami to compete in this prestigious event. In a recent social media post, Kai excitedly announced her participation in her first-ever LPGA Tour competition next month.
Expressing her enthusiasm in a video to her 910,000 followers, Kai stated, “I am thrilled to announce that I will be making my LPGA Tour debut in November at The Annika Driven By Gainbridge hosted at the Pelican Golf Club. Competing at the professional level has always been a dream of mine, and I am grateful to the Pelican Golf Club for the opportunity.”
Ranked 979th on the Universal Golf Rankings among junior girls, Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, is a promising amateur golfer considered as one of the sport’s rising talents. Her participation in the upcoming Florida event is anticipated to be a significant challenge in her golfing journey.
With over six million social media followers, Kai recently launched an apparel and lifestyle brand targeting young female athletes. Ricki Lasky, the LPGA’s chief tour business and operations officer, emphasized the importance of sponsor invitations in spotlighting emerging talents and attracting new interest to tournaments and the LPGA.
