The Philadelphia Eagles have completed a trade with the Houston Texans, acquiring wide receiver John Metchie III from Brampton, Ont., in exchange for veteran tight end Harrison Bryant. The trade, as reported by a source familiar with the situation, has not been officially announced by either team.
Metchie, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, had 24 receptions totaling 254 yards and one touchdown in the previous season. He missed his rookie year due to leukemia treatment. On the other hand, Bryant, who had nine catches for 86 yards last season with the Las Vegas team after spending his initial four seasons in Cleveland, averaged 22 receptions and 198 receiving yards per season with the Browns.
Joining the Eagles, Metchie will add depth to the team’s talented receiving corps, which includes A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, key players for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
