Viewers of Emmerdale are convinced they know what will spark the downfall of villain John Sugden.
In fact, if the theory is to be believed, it will be two unexpected characters who bring him down for once and for all. One character is currently in a coma with “zero chance of recovery” while the other is believed to be dead.
But fans are utterly convinced this is all about to change and will halt John’s master plan. Not only that, but fans are questioning if a hostage situation unfolds as John battles to cover his tracks.
Aidan Moore was revealed to be John’s ex-fiancé this week, as more about what happened to him emerged. He was left in a coma after an incident while in the army. He and John were on patrol in Afghanistan when he was left injured.
John claimed he battled to save his friend but he died, while this week we found out he was actually still alive. Aidan remains in a coma amid hints by John that he did something to Aidan on purpose while fans know he has some sort of a saviour complex.
After John claimed that Aidan would never wake up, fans are sure that he will at some point regain consciousness and expose John. Then there’s Anthony Fox, and his recent murder.
John has lied multiple times about the location of where his body had been hidden, after Ruby Miligan killed her abusive father earlier this year. John claimed he was in the woods, only to be forced to admit later on that he wasn’t there.
This left some of Anthony’s family wondering if he was secretly still alive, and this theory has only continued now that we know about John’s need to bring people back from the brink of death. So was Anthony actually saved by John, and is he being held somewhere?
Fans think this is the case and that both Anthony and Aidan will be the ones to bring down John. A new theory suggests John will be forced to act when Anthony returns to expose him, with Aidan also tipped to head to the village after waking from his coma.
Fans think together the pair will put a stop to John’s actions or at least expose what he has been up to. Another theory following on from this is it could lead to a kidnapping situation with the two men held hostage before all is revealed.
One theory read: “Aidan Moore regains consciousness and heads to the village on Aaron’s and John’s wedding day, he sees Mack with John and tells him that him and John are a couple, John goes berserk hitting Aidan to the ground then goes after Mack. Mack caught and he wakes up tied in a cellar, Anthony is there too, alive, John has Aidan there as well.”
Another fan suggested: “Things are definitely building up to Johns world imploding on him. Aiden will come out of his coma obviously or they wouldn’t have bothered to reveal he’s alive and hired someone to be him. Nate’s body will be discovered. One or both needs to happen preventing Aaron from marrying him.
“Starting to think there’s something behind the Anthony being alive theory. Why else won’t John reveal where he’s buried??!! The answer being because he’s not buried and was never dead! When John got to him his hero complex could have kicked in and he did CPR on Anthony reviving him. Steph will be his new obsession if he escapes knowing she’s his daughter.”
