Forge FC and Vancouver Whitecaps played to a 2-2 draw in the Canadian Championship semifinals, with Nana Ampomah shining with a goal and an assist for Forge. Ampomah struck early after a mistake from Bjorn Utvik, giving Forge a 1-0 lead. Tristan Blackmon and Brian White scored for the Whitecaps, but Forge equalized with Ampomah setting up Brian Wright. The second leg will be hosted by the Whitecaps on September 16.
Meanwhile, Vancouver FC defeated Atletico Ottawa 3-1 in their semifinal first leg. Hugo Mbongoe’s goal secured the win, with Michel da Silva and Nicolas Mezquida also finding the net for Vancouver. Samuel Salter scored for Ottawa in between Vancouver’s goals.
