Gary Lineker’s incredible £4million home with gym, cinema room and personal touches

Must read

Gary Lineker’s career has definitely had its ups and downs, but he’s always had a gorgeous home to go back to and relax after a long day in the spotlight. The football pro is well-known for having fronted Match of the Day for 26 years, and has an estimated net worth of around £30million for his efforts both on and off the pitch.

Using just a chunk of his wealth, Gary, 64, has made his home in the leafy West London borough of Richmond, with his home sitting in Barnes just beside the River Thames. Barnes is one of the most expensive areas of the capital, and Gary’s own abode is said to be worth a staggering £4million.

Unlike more private celebs, BBC star Gary often gives glimpses of his home on social media, showing off the space where he hosts countless celebs and even welcomed two refugees to live in 2020 and 2021 – whom he still keeps in touch with years later.

Gary seems to have a keen eye for interior design alongside footie plays. Those lucky enough to be invited over enter the beautiful house through a stunning stained glass front door, which leads into a hallway with a huge arched mirror, and staircases leading up.

The focal point of Gary’s city pad seems to be the kitchen, which he showed off while cooking for Piers Morgan in 2022. The large space is decked out to a professional standard, with very modern fittings.

Gary’s kitchen is super light and airy, with white tiling and neutral colours with gold hardware to make it look even bigger.

The sportsman appears to be a keen cook, and has a huge range oven opposite a marble kitchen island. It’s also decked out with plenty of cookbooks, pots and pans, and ingredients – and in photos from his evening with Piers, Gary sported a personalised apron reading: “Chef Gaz. The man, the myth, the legend.”

Another space where Gary often hangs out with his pals and four grown-up sons – who often seems to head over to visit their dad – is the living room. The front room is set right by a box bay window, streaming in plenty of natural light and giving a view of the tree-lined street.

He has plenty of pops of colour in the room, with a bright blue sofa bedecked with colourful cushions alongside artwork and patterned curtains. The room also boasts an ornate fireplace between two armchairs.

Alongside the expected rooms, Gary also has a home cinema nestled somewhere within the multi-million pound house with a huge screen and ottoman foot rests, alongside a home gym. The star often shares selfies from his workouts, revealing hefty equipment set by exposed brick walls.

In a very Gary-like decoration, four gold football boots sit on the wall just by the treadmill, showing off his obsession with the beautiful game. And, unlike many Londoners, he also has a generous private garden, with him and his sons often snapping pics as they enjoy drinks outside in the summer.

Gary shares his sons with his first wife Michelle Cockayne, whom he was married to from 1986 to 2006. He was then in a long relationship with model Danielle Bux – and she still spends plenty of time in his home despite now being married to American entertainment lawyer Nate Greenwald.

Gary spoke about their unorthodox closeness to the Mirror, sharing: “Danielle and I are best mates, we still speak three times a day, we text all the time. When she comes to London she stays with me, and when I go to LA I see her.”

Aside from Danielle and the boys, however, Gary said that his house isn’t always as bustling as it looks. Speaking to The Times in 2021, he said: “I like being on my own. I know it sounds a bit mad. I have lots of company. I’ve got lots of friends and I’ve also got my boys who come around a lot and I cook for them. I don’t feel lonely. I have the odd date here and there, but nothing, not in terms of a long relationship.”
