Former Gladiators pin-up Jet has broken her cover after admitting to attacking her ex-wife. The star, whose real name is Diane Youdale, admitted earlier this year that during a clash with her former partner, she “snapped”.
Diane and her ex-wife Zoe Gilbert married just four months after their pair first met one another in a Tesco car park in 2023. However, the couple went on to split in July last year. Now, two months after her admission, Diane 55, who appeared as Jet on the programme between 1992 and 1995, was all smiles at an event.
The star, who rebranded herself as Diane Jetstrong, has stepped out at Nerd Fest at Newcastle’s Gateshead Stadium where she has been meeting fans who queued up all day for pictures with her. Despite the soaring temperatures across the UK, Diane shared a nod to her former self.
She wore a pair of black lycra leggings, finishing her look with a fluffy white sweater and a green rucksack. Her famous brunette tresses were styled loosely, cascading over her shoulders and down her back, while she flashed a smile at onlookers. Diane and Zoe’s relationship was her first with a woman, after admitting she “just knew” her ex was ‘The One’ following their chance meeting.
During an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, Diane said to Zoe: “I asked you four months in… I just knew. The proposal was really boring, just in the kitchen over a glass of wine, you know, ‘lets do this’.”
Speaking earlier this year, Diane claimed that she was “pushed over the edge” by a battle with alcohol during her marriage. Speaking about the moment she “snapped” at her ex-wife, the star said: “She fell over the back of the sofa. I pressed on her chest three times firmly and I said, ‘stop this now.’
“I can’t remember what happened then. The next thing I knew I was being led out by the police… The living room was an absolute mess, there was coffee up the walls, writing all over the walls.”
Diane was questioned by police but was not arrested. She went on to tell the MailOnline: “I stopped drinking in July last year and I haven’t touched a drop since. I am so proud of myself for that.
“I could see what it was doing to me, and I stopped overnight, it served no purpose in my life, and I needed to be strong enough and clear enough with all my facts in the right place. It was a terrible depressor, and I can’t believe I did it to myself for so long.”
She later claimed that she was perhaps drinking to “self-medicate” and block out what was happening around her. But her ex-wife has claimed she was “sickened” by allegations that she was jealous during their relationship and that Diane felt “baited”.
Zoe told the MailOnline: “What Diane said about me was hurtful when she claimed that my jealousy broke up the marriage. I was not jealous, but I had to see it in black and white in the newspapers before I found out the truth.” Diane later claimed she felt “hoodwinked” by Zoe.
Speaking on the People Are Deep podcast, Diane said: “It’s called being hoodwinked because sometimes what you see on the packet isn’t what you get and I tragically did that.” She later admitted: “I got it wrong, we make mistakes.” But she acknowledged her past and although she can’t change it, she admits she is now able to “move forwards”.
