The Grand Marais drain in Windsor has recently turned bright green, but it’s not a St. Patrick’s Day joke. The unusual coloring is a result of dye that was introduced into the water system for infrastructure testing by Enwin. This action is part of the Feedermain project by the Windsor Utilities Commission.
During a recent system test, a portion of the new infrastructure failed inspection, prompting the use of dye to pinpoint the problem area. Enwin assures that the dye used is food-grade, non-toxic, and specifically designed for safe consumption in drinking water.
An Enwin spokesperson mentioned that once the testing is completed, the affected watermain will be flushed and retested to ensure full functionality before being put into operation. The affected area is near Grand Marais Road East close to Langlois Avenue, where ducks were seen swimming in the green water on Monday.
