Gunman wounds three at ICE office in Dallas

-

Three individuals sustained gunshot wounds at an Immigration and U.S. Customs Enforcement office in Dallas, with the perpetrator succumbing to a self-inflicted gunshot, as confirmed by the agency’s director. Acting ICE director Todd Lyons disclosed the incident in an interview with CNN on Wednesday, indicating that the victims could include employees, visitors, or detainees, with the specifics still under investigation. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem mentioned that while the details were unfolding, there were reports of “multiple injuries and fatalities.” The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, although there has been a noticeable increase in targeting ICE agents. The vicinity of the facility was swarmed with numerous emergency response vehicles. Up to this point, ICE and Homeland Security have not released further information. This occurrence follows an episode in July where a Texas immigration detention center was attacked on the Fourth of July, resulting in the injury of a police officer who was shot in the neck. The assailants, garbed in black military-style attire, carried out the assault outside the Prairieland Detention Centre in Alvarado, situated southwest of Dallas, with at least 11 individuals facing charges in connection to the incident.
