The horses, located at Eagle Wing Ranch on Buchner Rd., were discovered with cuts and stab wounds, with one horse found deceased and another receiving emergency care in Guelph, Ontario. The remaining horses were treated at the farm.
Eagle Wing Ranch, a family-owned hunter/jumper facility, is now mourning the loss and injuries of the horses. Ranch staff, including Amanda Janssen, expressed deep sorrow and asked for privacy during this difficult time. Veterinarian Matt Nugent, who attended the scene, noted that all the horses had similar injuries on the left side of their necks.
Const. Richard Hingley emphasized the emotional impact of the incident, highlighting that horses are considered family members by their owners. The police are actively investigating the case, with the Forensic Services Unit conducting an examination for evidence at the ranch.
