Some Might Say it was the first performance by Liam Gallagher and brother Noel after they reunited last week. But Liam has explained what really happened at the Mildmay working men’s club in Stoke Newington, North London. And despite some reports suggesting they may have been making music, the brothers were just meeting for a promo video for Adidas. However there was a closeness between the Oasis brothers which hasn’t been there for two decades.
Answering questions on twitter, Liam told fans: “There was no performance,” in response to headlines in one newspaper. Other Oasis pointed to claims there was a “secret set” but when a fan pointed out it would have just been music playing for the Adidas commercial, Liam replied “in 1” presumably meaning the lad had got it right with his theory, ‘you’ve got it in one’ being a common phrase.
But Liam went on to say “of course” when asked if he gave brother Noel a hug.
The best news for fans is perhaps the ideal Liam and Noel are excited about the reunion.
Liam said: “It’s all good, can’t wait to get rehearsing. He’s the same, we’re locked in.” Asked how it felt to be working together he said “Devine”.
The pair will be back on stage together in July for the Oasis Live 25 tour which was an instant sell out as millions of fans scrambled for tickets.
As the Mirror revealed earlier in April the full eagerly awaited Oasis reunion will happen later this month – with band rehearsals beginning in May.
Noel has been back in the studio on his own rehearsing songs and working on new material in London.
But the songwriter will meet up with the rest of Oasis next month, with Liam the last piece in the puzzle to join up ahead of a Summer of giant gigs A source close to Noel said there was plenty of time for rehearsals yet.
They added: “Noel is often in and out of the studio working on things, he is a singer songwriter so it’s only natural.
“But Liam is a singer and he has a long list of dates ahead of him with Oasis this year so he will not be overdoing rehearsals. After a big solo Definitely Maybe tour your last year, the main thing his voice needs at the moment is rest. He has been relaxing recently and spending time with his mum Peggy.
“The plan is for the band to start meeting up in May. They will jam around and work out a set list and Liam will be the last one to join in with the vocals.
“There is plenty of time and Liam is a born rock’n’roll star who has lived and breathed these songs and performed a lot of them in his own solo shows so he doesn’t need much practice.
“But the rest of the band do need to rehearse more, especially as there is a new drummer in the mix.”
Liam and Noel Gallagher are bringing in newcomer Joey Waronker on drums alongside more established former Oasis band members on guitars.
The full line up is expected to be Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Joey Waronker.
Asked earlier this month about the fans meltdown around the Oasis Live 25 ticket sales, Noel said: “I thought it’d be a big deal, but I was a bit taken aback by just how much of a big deal it was.”
He is also quizzed to name his favourite Oasis song but replied: “Can I have more than one? Supersonic, Some Might Say, Live Forever and Rock’n’Roll Star.”
