Israel’s intensification of its ground offensive and ongoing airstrikes have led to the closure of two hospitals in Gaza City, according to the enclave’s health ministry. The Al-Rantissi Children’s Hospital sustained significant damage from recent Israeli bombardment, while the nearby Eye Hospital was also affected by Israeli attacks, resulting in the suspension of services. The health ministry criticized Israel for targeting the healthcare system in Gaza as part of its destructive policies, emphasizing the lack of safe access routes for patients and the wounded to reach medical facilities.
Israeli tanks have advanced further into Gaza City, particularly in the Sheikh Radwan area and Jala Street where the two hospitals are situated. Reports indicate that Israeli forces used explosive-laden vehicles to destroy numerous houses in these areas. The offensive has resulted in at least 25 casualties, with most of the fatalities occurring in Gaza City. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his commitment to eliminating Hamas and ensuring the safety of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza.
In a separate incident, an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon killed five individuals, including three children. The attack targeted what Israel claims were Hezbollah positions, despite a truce brokered by the U.S. between Lebanon and Israel. The strike, which also wounded two others, drew condemnation from Lebanese officials, with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri describing it as a “blatant crime against civilians.” The Israeli military acknowledged the civilian casualties and stated that the incident is under review.
The situation in Gaza and its neighboring regions remains tense, with ongoing violence causing significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. International concern is mounting over the escalating conflict and the humanitarian impact on the affected populations.
