James Martin’s favourite car from his £5m collection is one of the cheapest

Must read

James Martin, the renowned TV chef and former Saturday Kitchen presenter, has revealed his fondness for his impressive car collection. In a previous interview with SL.Man, James confessed that his top pick is the practical yet rugged Toyota Hilux pickup truck. Its ample storage space and impressive range have won him over.

However, his friends often tease him about his affection for the Hilux, given the array of simply iconic and classic cars at his disposal. He said: “I’ve got a Toyota Hilux pickup truck that I absolutely love – you can chuck everything in it and it will go forever.

“All my mates take the mick: ‘So you’ve got all these cars, but you drive around in a pick-up truck?'” While the Hilux may not be as flashy as some of his other vehicles, its 435-liter boot space and reliable performance makeup for its modest 100mph top speed and 10-second 0-62mph acceleration.

The Hilux, valued around £35,000, has earned James’ admiration. He also expressed his appreciation for his BMW 760Li, which he frequently drives.

He recalled: “Jay Kay told me to buy one of those.” James praised the 760Li, saying, “A lot of people buy RSA Audis and stuff like that, but the 760Li is absolutely mega – V12, 700 horsepower… Mega.”

During a recent interview with TV presenter Jodie Kidd, James’ BMW was spotted parked on his driveway, hinting that it’s one of the more frequently used vehicles in his collection. The 760Li is undeniably elegant, boasting a chic interior and impressive specifications, reports the Express.

The model can reach a staggering top speed of 155 mph and can go from 0-62mph in a mere 4.8 seconds. However, with a hefty price tag of over £100,000, this car is likely beyond the budget of most drivers.

James Martin’s collection, which is estimated to be worth around £5million, features models of historical significance.

Among his prized possessions are one of Colin McRae’s classic Subaru Impreza rally cars and a historic Mini Cooper, previously driven by British world rally legends Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen.
