Former U.S. President Joe Biden has recently undergone a surgical procedure to remove skin cancer lesions, as confirmed by his spokesperson, Kelly Scully. The surgery was revealed after a video surfaced showing Biden with a fresh scar on his forehead as he left a church in Delaware. The procedure Biden underwent is known as Mohs surgery, which involves removing the cancerous skin until no evidence of cancer remains.
This is not the first encounter Biden has had with skin cancer. Two years ago, while he was in office, he had a basal cell carcinoma lesion removed from his chest. Additionally, in May, Biden’s office announced that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones.
Reflecting on his health challenges, Biden shared on social media, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.”
The Biden family has faced cancer tragedies over the years. Biden’s son Beau passed away from a brain tumor, and his wife, Jill, had to undergo surgery to remove two cancerous lesions. At 82 years old, Biden is currently the oldest living U.S. president, with George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and current President Donald Trump following closely behind in age. Former President Barack Obama, at 64, is the youngest among the living U.S. presidents.
